Job Description: Diesel Mechanic Helper

As a Vehicle & Refrigeration Technician, you will assist in maintaining, repairing, and servicing company vehicles, including vans, trucks, tractors, and trailers. This includes refrigeration and air conditioning units, structural repairs, and on-the-road service work. You’ll help ensure that all safety and quality standards are consistently met in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
• Assist in major repairs of gas/diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, and more.
• Support refrigeration system maintenance: leaks, tubing, condensers, thermal controls, and recharging refrigerants.
• Operate welding equipment for trailer/ramp repairs and construction of cargo bars.
• Respond to road service calls and maintain service logs and reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe garage environment.
• Participate in general housekeeping and end-of-shift equipment checks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6–12 months of relevant experience or equivalent technical training.
• Ability to interpret technical data, including schematics, meters, and manuals.
• Basic knowledge of truck/automotive maintenance and diagnostic equipment.
